Bentonville, Arkansas
For thousands of years, the Osage people and European tourists used the region known as Bentonville as a hunting ground. Settlers arrived in the early 1800s and called it the settlement of Osage in about 1837. In 1843, the post office was renamed, and the city’s name was changed to Bentonville. The city was incorporated in 1873. In its early years, Bentonville’s economy was fueled by the farming community – initially with tobacco and then transitioning to apples. The St. Louis-San Francisco Railway (Frisco) was completed in the summer of 1881 but missed Bentonville by about 6 miles. Rogers was established along the tracks southeast of Bentonville and in 1883 – the Bentonville Railroad Company completed a rail line to Rogers. This became part of the AR & OK Railroad in 1898. Later that year, the line was extended to Grove, Oklahoma. In 1900, Frisco bought the rail line and ran it until about 1940. These railroad lines played a pivotal part in the ability to sell products across state lines. Tobacco was the initial agricultural product followed by whole apples and apple-related products including dried apples and cider vinegar.
By 1903, the apple business was booming, and the local economy was fueled by the agricultural industry. By the 1930s, disease was causing major issues in the farmers’ apple crops and the chicken broiler business was picking up speed. By 1934, more broilers were raised in Benton County than any other county in AR. The railroads helped with the expansion of the poultry industry in the local community. In the early 1940s, chickens were dressed and packed; then, shipped by rail car to St. Louis, Missouri and Chicago, Illinois. In 1950, Sam Walton bought the variety store on the town square and remodeled it. It opened as the Walton’s 5 and 10 Variety Store. Walmart began growing and bringing in suppliers to Northwest Arkansas.

The city was known as the apple capital of the world - Apple production peaked in 1919, but by the late 1930s – most orchards were gone due to blight. Farmers branched out into poultry and dairy farming and by the 1950s, building up through the twenty-first century - the economy was strong from the poultry industry and the establishment of Walmart in nearby Bentonville. Centerton is about 5 miles west of Bentonville and ranked sixth in the country for growth from 2022 to 2023 among cities with populations of at least 20,000. It grew 11.2% to its 23,953 residents. In treaties in the early 1800s between the US and the Great and Little Osage in Missouri. 30 million acres were transferred to the government, and a portion of this land, which was once the heart of the Osage eventually became Bella Vista. In 1915, the area was developed into a summer retreat area but within a year – the resort was sold. During that time a contest was run to select the name of the resort. The winning entry was Bella Vista meaning beautiful view. By 1930, a pavilion was developed and offered dancing, lodging, golf, swimming, and a night club in a cave, which was called Wonderland. The resort retained the Bella Vista name and catered to wealthy families who could spend summers there. By 1965, a developer promoted buying a home to eventually retire in – also called vacation-retirement homes. People could buy the lots, build their dream home, and retire there. Ground Level Decks
Ground-level decks create a unique outdoor space for enjoying your yard. These are less complicated than raised decks and usually don’t require footing, but they need to be well constructed for durability and safety. Elite Home Solutions can construct ground-level decks with PVC, wood, composite, or metal decking material. Our deck contractors will construct a sturdy frame with supporting joists and support beams once the ground is leveled. Once built, stain or water seal can be applied to wood decks to create the desired finish.
Multilevel Decks
Multilevel decks create a dynamic element to a home, making it stand out. They are multifaceted and are more complex and expensive to build, but the end result is stunning. Elite Home Solutions has the expertise, experience, and credentials to construct multilevel decks. Planning and designing the deck is the first and most critical step in the deck-building process. Elite’s project manager will work closely with the homeowner to ensure all elements are addressed and planned for and with the local building inspector to ensure compliance. Site preparation is also essential. This process readies the property and the area for construction. Before any building can begin, the footings and support posts must be installed. Framing of the deck is the next step and starts with the first level; each additional level will follow suit. Once all framing is complete, the decking is installed and secured, stairs are built, and railings are constructed. Various finishing touches, including trim and custom design components, are also completed. Elite Home Solutions makes sure that the site is cleaned up and debris is removed from the site.
Raised Decks
Raised Decks create an extension of your home to the outside and increase the property value of your home. Having a trusted builder do the job is essential. Elite Home Solutions, an insured and licensed contractor in Springdale, Arkansas, has the experience and the skills needed. Elite’s project manager works closely with the homeowner and ensures proper planning and oversight of the project. As with all building projects, the area must be prepared and marked. The footing must be dug, concrete poured, and footing posts installed. The framing of the deck and installing joists and beams will be the next step. Once the framing is complete, the decking is secured, and the railing and stairs are constructed.
